Due to very high water levels and flood alerts along the Ouse, this walk has been cancelled. Apologies for the very short notice.

If an alternative walk is made available for 8th November, it will be posted on the Club’s website.

Start of walk and car parking: Starts at RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes Reserve Carpark north of Holywell Lake (grid ref TL34265 69873); There is not a suitable post code but What3Words is (scream.tabs.workflow).

By Bus:

There is a convenient Guided Busway request stop called Fen Drayton Reserve.  Walk back towards Cambridge 50m and, at the crossing, turn North for 200m with a direction sign to carpark along the Holywell Ferry Road (track) towards the river.

By Car:

Turn off A14 at Jnc 24 (just after the Cambridge Services turn off at 24a) and over 3 roundabouts towards A1304 Swavesey follow brown signposts to Nature Reserve.  On edge of Swavesey after ‘Boxworth End Farm’ take next Left.  After 1.3km turn right and after 500m turn left into Nature Reserve entrance (track).  After 1km at T Jnc turn right along Holywell Ferry Road and over the Guided Busway to the Car park 200m on the left.

Mileage: 13 miles (7.5 + 5.5)

Lunch: Lunch will be at the Old Ferry Boat Inn at Holywell.  The menu will be available at the start for you to order lunch.

General information: A walk through the Fen Drayton Nature Reserve and along the banks of the Ouse.  The walk is about 13 miles through the Fen Drayton Lakes Reserve and up river to the St Ives Marina (Jones Boatyard) for coffee.  Then continue to St Ives across the Chapel Bridge and follow the Ouse Valley Way down river to Holywell for lunch at the Old Ferry Boat Inn.  The afternoon continues along the Ouse valley Way to cross at the Brownhill Staunch and Lock to follow the Pathfinder Long Distance Walk upstream back to Fen Drayton Reserve Carpark.
