At Barton Mills roundabout near Mildenhall take 3rd exit A11 towards Thetford and Norwich. This is currently 40mph due to roadworks. At next roundabout near Thetford it becomes dual carriageway. Go straight over 2nd and 3rd roundabouts. At 4th roundabout with yellow slow down lines across road take 1st exit on A1075 signpost to East Dereham and Watton. After 8.5 miles and Stow Bedon signs slow down past Wayside Farm on left selling produce, go round bend to left and immediately turn into layby on left with a green bottle bank, phone box and sign Great Eastern Pingo Trail. In layby, take track off towards house and turn immediately right into car park.
Walk is 10 miles, 7am, 3pm. Pingos are crater like depressions formed during last ice age and now full of water. We follow parts of the Great Eastern Pingo Trail and part of the Peddars Way, stopping to eat sandwiches at Thompson and buy a drink in the pub.
