Update on discount shopping for CRC members

Club members will be sad to learn of the closure of Open Air in central Cambridge. Not only have we lost an independent store, but a number of boot brands will no longer be available to try on locally.

Mountain Warehouse no longer offers discounts to any members of organisations.

As far as we know, both Trespass and Ellis Brigham/North Face offer a 10% discount on full price goods if you show your Membership card.

Some Club members have recently been refused a discount at Cotswold Outdoor; we have spoken to the store’s representative who told us that the Club doesn’t buy enough to warrant being offered a discount. We pointed out that the code given to the Club for members purchasing goods online is, in fact, the national Ramblers Association code. Consequently any records of the value of goods bought will not be recorded as CRC purchases. We hope to persuade Cotswold to reinstate the 15% discount. In the meantime you may have to rely on membership of other organisations, such as the Ramblers or National Trust, in order to receive a discount.
