Wednesday ‘A’ 30 July 2014  10:00am; Newmarket – July Racecourse

Our walk on 30 July will start from the parking area adjacent to the July Racecourse [near CB8 0XE;  GR TL618614].

From the Quy roundabout follow the A1303 for approx 5 miles until you reach the ‘Racehorse Statue’ roundabout, about 2 miles SW of Newmarket.  Take the first exit, signed ‘July Racecourse’, and follow the drive towards the end (~200 yards).  Park along the edge of the drive.

Our route [8 miles am, 5.5 miles pm]: Devil’s Ditch – Stetchworth – Brinkley Stud – Dullingham Ley – Ditton Green – Woodditton – Dane Bottom – Devil’s Ditch

Gently undulating terrain, generally on easy footpaths with only occasional brushing past nettles. A few fields are crossed with loose horses.

Lunch is at the Three Blackbirds, Ditton Green which offers a good range of sandwiches with cheap soup or chips add-ons available! Some interesting starters too.
