This week we have a gentle ramble of around 2 miles along the byways of Burwell. Most of it is on paved paths but a little bit is on grassy ones.
We will pause to inspect some interesting features along the way such as the castle (site of) and the once bustling Hythe down by the river.
There is a coffee shop part way round where we could stop for refreshments.
We realise that some people would like a longer walk and there are signed footpaths for the Earthworks Way. You can find a map by searching for “Earthworks Way Burwell “.
We will meet in the Museum car park (CB25 0BA) just past the Five Bells on the right hand side (from Cambridge) at 10.20 ready for a 10.30 departure.
Unfortunately the Five Bells doesn’t do lunch on Wednesdays but the Anchor at the other end of the village in North Street serves excellent Thai food.
