Wednesday B Morning Walks: Saffron Waldon or Swaffham Prior

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. There are two walks available each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). We hope the number of walkers will be 12 or less and at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

 

Walk A: Saffron Walden

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Start of walk Swan Meadows Car Park – parking charge

Car parking:

Take B184 into Saffron Walden. At bottom of Windmill Hill just before you get into the town turn right into New Pond lane. Swan Meadows Car Park is at the end of the lane. On entering the car park go up to the far end on the RHS.

Walk The walk will cross Audley End Estate, completing a circular walk. Via Audley End village and the edge of the town.

Walk B: Swaffham Prior

Start of walk: 10.00 am

The walk starts from outside the two churches at High St, Swaffham Prior, Grid Ref 568 639 (Explorer Map 226)   Post Code CB25 0LD. Park as you enter village on left. The walk includes a section of the Devils Dyke & exploration of higher ground in Reach

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please text the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of the text! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted. The maximum number of people allowed on any walk is 30.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
