Wednesday B Morning walk – Great Chesterford – 6.5 miles

Note that the meet is actually in Little Chesterford – its larger brother having remarkably few parking places.

Head for:    TL519418    CB10 1UD

Travelling south down the A11, take the last left turn before it joins the M11 and head towards Saffron Walden on the B184. Great Chesterford will appear almost immediately on your right hand side. Carry on to Little Chesterford and when you reach the new ‘Chesterford Research Park’ roundabout, turn right into the High Street. Immediately (ie, after 20 yards) turn right again (Walden road) and park on the left hand side as soon as a space is available. This is no through road, so there should be virtually no traffic.

The walk takes us through Little Chesterford and then across to the fields to Great Chesterford, where we turn back up towards and across the B184. A longish countryside loop follows, during which the usual 10 minute break will be taken. The loop brings us back to Great Chesterford a little further north, as we pass down the village High Street and back to the field crossing to Little Chesterford.

Both High Streets are rather attractive, with a good mix of varied age housing.

Wednesday B Morning walks are moderate speed – 3 m.p.h. on good terrain.
There will be a 10 minute drinks stop part way.
As no lunch is involved it is not necessary to phone leader – just turn up.
