Wednesday B All-day walk – The Three Hills, Bartlow

March 20 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm

Start time: 10.15

Walk length: Just under 8 miles, with 5 miles before lunch

Walk details: The terrain is undulating with several gentle rises /descents. Two stiles. A mixture of farm tracks, field paths and a little lane walking.

It can be quite muddy if there has been recent rain. It might be necessary to alter the route if it is still very wet (as it was when the recce was done) which will mean missing out the Roman Tumuli (the three hills). However, as the site is very near the church in Bartlow where the walk finishes, it is easy to pop along to explore them at the end of the walk.

Meeting place and parking: Church of St Mary, Camps Road, Little Linton, Bartlow, CB21 4PL. On street parking is available in Bartlow.

Directions from Cambridge: Take A1307 from Cambridge towards Haverhill. At the new island (Bartlow Roundabout) just past Linton, take the 3rd exit, signposted Bartlow and The Camps. Follow the road for c. 1 mile and keep straight on at the crossroads in Bartlow, which then becomes Camps Rd. The church is just after the crossroads, on the right hand side.

Lunch arrangements: Bring your own picnic lunch – A room has been booked in Ashdon Village Hall for the group to use, so there will be toilets and a kettle will be available in the kitchen (BYO tea/coffee/milk). Dogs are allowed in the village hall. Or there are benches a little past the village hall in a memorial garden. A small contribution to the cost of hiring the hall would be appreciated.

Leaders: Christine and Nigel
