Walk length: Approx. 7.9 miles – 4.7 miles in the morning, 3.2 miles after lunch.

Walk details: About 1 mile of road walking (with adequate verges, mostly in Gt. Chishill); several fields to cross on well-trodden rights-of-way; great views; no stiles.

Meeting place: Walk back towards St. Nicholas’ Church and meet up on the small green on the Ickleton Road just below the church. Post Code CB11 4LT; OS Grid Reference TL462 397.

Directions and parking: From junction 10 on the M11 (Duxford Imperial War Museum) take the A505 west towards Royston. Turn left after the pet crematorium and follow the road through Chrishall Grange, following signs for Elmdon.

In Elmdon, turn left by St. Nicholas’ Church into Ickleton Road. Follow the road for about 200 metres and you will see the old school on the left. You can park on the right-hand side near some terraced houses, called School Row, or just beyond.

Lunch arrangements: Lunch at the Pheasant Inn, 24 Heydon Road, Great Chishill, SG8 8SR. Inside and outside tables available. Dogs are allowed indoors and out.

For those eating a packed lunch, there is a small green a few metres along the road from the pub and a bench in the church yard opposite. There is also a bus shelter (with a seat) next to the green, if shelter is needed. The pub requests that we do not eat our own food on the premises.
