Start of walk and car parking:  Our walk will start from the Hockham Picnic Site car parking area [GR TL938920]  https://goo.gl/maps/eMmzPmuHUjUkjFcK6

Directions: :  Take the A11 to the roundabout approx. 2 miles northeast of Thetford town centre.  Turn left on the A1075, signed Wretham.  Our car park is on the left-hand side, approximately 6 miles from the roundabout.  After passing the speed de-restriction sign on leaving Wretham, in about 300 yards you will pass a sign warning of bends for ½ mile.  Slow down further after this point – the Picnic Site is about 300 yards beyond this point.

Mileage: 11.8 miles (6.5 + 5.3)

Lunch: Lunch will be at the Chequers Inn, Thompson.  Good range of food.  Please consume own sandwiches on the village green.  Latest Chequers menu (abridged).

General information about the walk: Generally easy-going underfoot. Initially tracks north through mixed woodland, connecting with a section of the pingo trail.  Then follows a section of Peddars Way before winding through a Nature Reserve via a series of Pingos [ice age relics]; lunch in Thompson, then more pingos and a disused railway line after lunch.  Occasional mosquitos may still be encountered in September, though many of the pingos are drying out.
