Walk length: 7½ to 8 miles. Before lunch – c. 5 miles

Walk details: A circular walk from Barkway via Newsells and Barley to Nuthampstead on bridleways, footpaths and quiet lanes. Hopefully we shall see cowslips and bluebells. No stiles but a short flight of steep steps . Two uphill sections. On the recce, some paths were muddy after the recent heavy rain.

Meeting place and parking: Barkway Recreation Ground and Pavilion car park, 4, Cambridge Road, Barkway, Royston SG8 8BS.
This is a small/medium car park opposite the Village Hall. If full, park sensibly in the village nearby.

Directions from Cambridge: From central Cambridge, head out towards the A505. From Junction 10 (Duxford) on the M11, follow A505 towards Royston for just over 4 miles. At Flint Cross, turn left on to B1368 and follow through Barley. After 4.6 miles, the car park will be on your left-hand side almost opposite Barkway Village Hall

Lunch arrangements: Lunch at the Woodman pub in Nuthampstead. Sandwiches available in the pub. See menu below. The pub is dog friendly.

There is seating by the war memorial adjacent for those who prefer to bring a picnic (unfortunately, there is no cover if wet).
