Wednesday A Wallington

September 16, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Gillian P will be leading a walk on Wednesday 16th Sept. Details below.

May I, politely, remind those who want to join a walk to send a text to the leader – I think one or two of us have thought that carrier pigeon and other methods may be accepted! A text is a straightforward way to retain the information for ‘test and trace’ purposes.

Start of walk: St Mary’s Church, Wallington.  The nearest postcode is SG7 6SJ  TL 292335.  There is space for cars just beyond the church.  The best map showing the church is here. https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101347337-church-of-st-mary-wallington#.Xx6SHlVKjX4

If coming from Cambridge, come off the dual carriageway for the first sign to Wallington (just after the Ashwell turn) then you go up the hill for over a mile.  Take the small right turning up into Wallington.   There are several sharp bends there, first right, then left, at the next right bend there is a lane off to the left signposted in white home-made script low down “to the church”.  Parking at the end just past the church.

Car parking: see above

Group size: 10

Mileage: 11 (6.5 and 4.5)

Lunch: Packed lunch and all other refreshments for the day

Leader’s name and mobile number: Gillian P’s mobile number is 07903 998727

General walk information: The route follows the Icknield Way with great views north, then comes back through woods and fields and the Hertfordshire Way. Very little road walking!

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please text or ‘phone the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of the text! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted. The maximum number of people allowed on any walk is 30.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.

More details related to taking part in and leading Club walks in a Covid-19 environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’. Please have another look at these before you come on the walk.
