Start of walk: The Woodman pub, Nuthampstead, SG8 8NB. This is a figure of eight walk.

Car parking: As above. The car park is spacious. Travel through Barley and Barkway. Then turn left, immediately, after the pub at the far end of Barkway. Signposted Nuthampstead. When you enter the village, you pass a 30mph sign, then a 40mph sign then another 30mph sign. After this sign, turn right at the T-junction on the bend, where there is a home-made sign to the pub.

Mileage: 11 miles (7 and 4)

Lunch:  Lunch is at the Woodman pub, which will be open at 9.30 to take food orders and for use of the toilets. There is plenty of outside area for sandwich eaters. The pub is very spacious inside. The menu is very extensive.

General information:  The walk goes towards Meesden and Anstey in the morning and across to Earl’s Field and the Hertfordshire Way in the afternoon. It is substantially different from the Barley walk we did in November. Much of it is through woods but it will be muddy. So please be prepared.
