From Cambridge take the Madingley Road (A428) towards St Neots and Bedford. After approximately 8 miles turn left onto the A1198 (Ermine Street) at the roundabout, where there is a MacDonalds and a Shell Garage, signposted Royston and Caxton. Drive through Caxton village and then turn right onto Gransden Road. A few yards up on the right, just past Caxton Village Hall, turn right into a small car park. Park as close as possible. The walk is 12 miles. Morning via Cambourne to Bourn with lunch at the Willow Tree. The afternoon returns to Caxton via Bourn mill.

The Willow Tree serves a limited snack menu but a full lunch menu, which can be found at www.thewillowtreebourn.com. Snacks include a smoked salmon and cheese bagel (£6.50), fish and chips (£10), risotto (£5.50 or £10), veggie soup (£4.50), rarebit (£5.50), and a BLT sandwich (£6). Own food can be eaten at the bottom of the garden, provided you buy a drink.
