Wednesday A Rede, Suffolk
July 19, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Our walk on 19 July will start from Rede village green (IP29 4BE), Grid Ref TL803557, Explorer 210 & 211.
Please park next to the Village Green, starting with the hard stand area on the left side of the Green, alongside the weather-boarded building, or along the roadside (righthand side only) leading into the Green near the prominent telephone box.
Directions: One of the easiest routes takes the A14 to exit 40 (direction Tuddenham/Cavenham/Barrow). Turn right at the T junction and then via Barrow heading south to meet the A143 near Rede. Other shorter cross-country routes from Newmarket offer more scenic options – with similar travel-time.
Route: 13 miles (8 am + 5 pm) Our route wends around the undulations of the chalky Newmarket Ridge and will pass through Whepstead, Ickworth Park, Chevington (lunch) and Depden. Mainly along broad grassy tracks, bridleways and farm roads with some easy! field crossings.
Lunch: at the walker-friendly ‘Greyhound’ Chevington. Soup, beefburgers, baguettes and jacket potatoes with a range of fillings. If you wish to sample one of their speciality curries please visit their bewildering selection at http://www.chevingtongreyhound.co.uk/menu.html and add your choice (including type of rice) to our menu list at the start of the walk.
