Gillian will lead a 12.5 mile walk from Pirton to Lilley through beautiful beech woods and up and over some Downs.  Expect some ups therefore, but these are (mostly) gentle.  Walk is roughly 50/50 in terms of length morning/afternoon, with lunch at the Lilley Arms.  Simple pub food, soup, sandwiches, and more substantial fish & chips etc.   http://lilleyarms-lilley.co.uk/food-accommodation  Picnics on the village green.

 Directions: Most route fixers will send you via A505/A1M/A602/505, which is the best route, following signs to Luton around Hitchin.  Bear right at roundabout as you leave the town to Barton-le-Clay, and then 1m on turn right to Pirton/Shillington. 

When you get to Pirton turn right where you give way into Walnut Tree Road, then .25 mile left into High Street.   Past the pub, then the Hall is on the left  just before the school.  Please park at the back. 

 Central Cambridge to Pirton takes just under the hour.  But it’s a lovely walk, so worth it.
