Walks and Picnic at Wandlebury

July 7, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Wednesday B Morning Walks

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. There are two walks available each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). We hope the number of walkers will be 12 or less and at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

Date:7th July

Walks and Picnic at Wandlebury

To celebrate our group’s restart of ‘normal official walks’ this group will be meeting for several walks in and around Wandlebury Country park. We will walk in several small groups, beginning in different places, then share lunch together on the Picnic Meadow (see leaflet) Download.ashx (cambridgeppf.org) from about 12.30 onwards. All walks will be about 6 miles. Parking on the Wandlebury site costs £3 for the day.

Please let me know if you would like to join one of the walks (beginning 10.00am) or would like to just join us for the BYO picnic. As we are still operating under COVID level 3 rules, walkers will be allocated to one of three groups of less than 12 & the maximum at the picnic will be 30 persons. See further details below. Don’t just turn up as the walk starts will not all be within the park.

It would be nice to see some old faces who may not have walked with us recently and some new faces, who would like to start walking with us.

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please text the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of the text! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted. The maximum number of people allowed on any walk is 30.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
