This is a pretty walk of 4.5 miles with some gentle undulations, and hopefully some beautiful young racehorses, whose fields we will pass.

To arrive at the starting point in Hertford Lane, Elmdon SG8 8XB, travel down to the Duxford roundabout (Junction 10 on the M11) then take the A505 towards Royston. Pass the Imperial War Museum, then take the first left opposite Heath Farm towards Chrishall Grange and Chrishall. Pass Chrishall Grange and when you get to a junction of several lanes, take the second left towards Elmdon. This is Hertford Lane. As you approach Elmdon, there is a sharp bend on which there there is off-road parking, our starting point where I will be waiting in a conspicuous spot. Attached is a map showing the route ( a thick red line) from the A505.

At 10.00 we will head off down a track towards Chrishall, pass the church and head up to Pond Street. From there we start to head back, past an interesting chapel that we can visit briefly. We then walk back past a stud farm to our original track and then to the cars. I will bring maps and instructions for the two possible short cuts, one of which is very short.
