Sunday C, Great Sampford – POSTPONEMENT
July 25 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
The 25th July walk at Great Sampford has been postponed to Sunday 8th August. This is because following torrential rain on 21st July, paths are very muddy, and more rain is forecast for Sunday 25th. Hopefully conditions will be better by 8th August.
Because of the postponement, we have some spaces on this walk to reach 10 people, including the leader. As booking is essential, please phone Dieter on 01223 527763 or 07445 807650, giving your name and phone number for ‘Test and Trace’ purposes.
On 8th August, we start at 10am from “Cabbages” house (Explorer Map 195 at Grid Ref. 649 371; or CB10 2NY on Satnav will get you nearby), and walk along pleasant paths with attractive vistas of cornfields and woods.
Suggested route from Cambridge, taking some 40 minutes: Take A1307 through Linton and turn right at sign to Bartlow and The Camps; at Bartlow turn right to Ashdon; then left (opposite the Rose & Crown) signed to Radwinter / Gt Sampford, and drive some 3 miles along a windy road. At the Radwinter crossroads turn left along B1054 to Hempstead, and at the Bluebell Inn turn sharp right up a hill and continue 1½ miles along a windy narrow road. Cabbages is on the left, shortly after crossing a brook. There is limited parking on the road, so it would be helpful to share cars.
In line with the requirements for group walks of more than 6 people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with contact details. Please phone the leader if you plan to come and remember to give your name and phone number. Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted. The maximum number of people allowed on any walk is 30. No one should come on the walk if you feel even slightly ill.
Please make sure that you bring with you a face-covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidelines we are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
More details relating to taking part in and leading Club walks in a ‘Covid-19’ environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’.
