STAPLEFORD RECREATION GROUND CAR PARK

Stapleford Recreation Ground Car Park at the Jubilee Pavilion, Gog Magog Way, Stapleford, Cambridge, CB22 5BQ

Directions avoiding the road closure on the Haverhill Road.  From Cambridge take the A1307 towards Wandlebury.  At the roundabout which serves the entrance to the Babraham Park and Ride signposted Cherry Hinton and Teversham on the left, take the third exit onto Hinton Way.  Passing the shop and Post Office on the right take the first turning on the left into Mingle Lane.  Follow Mingle Lane passing the Church on the left to where Mingle Lane joins the Gog Magog Way.  There is a sign posted green island at this point.  Keep to the left of the green island and follow the road where it passes a second green island.  Again keep to the left of this island and follow the road as it bends to the right.  The Jubilee Pavilion is on the right just past the entrance road to a barn.

Cars can be parked either on the right (gravel) or the left (grass).

The walk goes through the Villedomer wood to Colin’s Bank where we stop for coffee, then across to Wandlebury which we enter via the bus stop gate.  Once in Wandlebury we take a circular walk via the Ely viewpoint and hopefully the Banded Galloway and Highland cattle before stopping at the picnic area for lunch.  After lunch we leave Wandlebury via Emma’s gate and take the path that joins the Roman Road.  We then take the Mile Road Track and the bridle path that brings us back into Stapleford.  The paths are mainly grass and track with very little mud.  The walk is approx. 10 miles.  Please bring all refreshments for the day.
