Drive out of Cambridge on the A10, through Harston, Royston by-pass, Baldock bypass to A1M, drive towards London, take exit 8 marked Stevenage North and Hitchin, drive to Hitchin (A602) and in Hitchin turn left onto the A505 marked to Luton Airport. Shortly after leaving the town, there’s a left marked to Offley and Lilley; follow this road through Offley go straight on until you get to a right turn marked for Lilley which takes you under the A505 and into the village. In the village the road forks, take the right fork (East Street). Take the first proper road right (Rueley Dell Road,LU2 8LR) and park there.

This is in an area marked on the Ordnance Survey as outstandingly beautiful and the wild flowers should be at their best. The morning will be 4.5 miles and the afternoon just under 6. If we walked in the opposite direction to the pub at Hexton and so lengthened the morning, we would lose particularly fine views .
