B Morning Walks: Great Chesterford or Willingham

March 2, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. There are two walks available each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). We hope the number of walkers will be 12 or less and at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

Remember that you need to send a text (or in this case call/e-mail) to let the leader know you intend join the walk.

Date 2nd March

Walk A: Great Chesterford

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Car parking: Approaching Little Chesterford from the B184, when you get to the roundabout giving access to the Research Park, turn right into the village. Drive along High Street which turns right at the church. Where the road turns left to head for the B1383 there is a right turn signposted as a bridleway (the house on the corner usually has a large Union Flag flying) ; turn up here to a large concrete area where we can park. There may also be dog-walkers’ cars, please don’t block them in. Postcode CB10 1TZ.

The walk is a 6 mile there-and-back, no paths to make it circular but the views are lovely! We will go up over the hill and down to the outskirts of Saffron Walden for coffee stop. When I recce’d there was a little mud but not much; poles might be helpful if there has been rain.
