Wednesday B All-day walk – Cottenham

March 2, 2022 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm

Start  time: 10.15

Walk length:  7-8 miles

Walk details: Approximately 6 miles before lunch and 2 miles after lunch. There are no stiles and little mud on the walk. Part of the walk is exposed to the wind so please wrap up well.

Directions and parking: Park at the Cottenham Recreation Ground, Lambs Lane, Cottenham,  Cambridge, CB24 8TB

DIRECTION to Cottenham Recreation Ground

  • Exit A14 to take the A1039 signposted Cottenham/Histon.
  • Exit roundabout onto Bridge Road B1049 for 3.4 miles.
  • At the roundabout take 1st exit onto High Street.
  • After 0.2 miles at the roundabout continue straight – staying on Rampton Road.
  • After 0.1miles turn right onto Lambs Lane
  • The Recreation Ground is on the left.

Meeting place: At Cottenham Recreation ground

Group size: No limit on number of walkers

Lunch arrangements: LUNCH is at the Cottenham Community Centre.  High Street, Cottenham – Menu attached below.

  • Please remove, or cover footwear before entering the Community Centre.

  • Dogs are not allowed inside the Community Centre, but anyone bringing a dog can stay with their dog and have their pre-ordered lunch on a table outside.

  • People bringing their own lunch can use seats on ‘The Green’, which is about a 10 minute walk from the Community Centre, in the same street.

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by Ramblers UK (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please email or phone the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of any message! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill.  Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
