B Morning walks: Cambridge City walk or Milton park/Chesterton

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. There are two walks available each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). We hope the number of walkers will be 12 or less and at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

Remember that you need to send a text to let the leader know you intend join the walk.

Walk A: Cambridge City centre

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Car parking: This walk begins in the centre of Cambridge. It would be better to arrive on public transport. No free parking available in town. Meet near Christ’s Piece next to the ice-cream kiosk along side of Drummer Street bus station.   The walk includes Castle Hill with views of Cambridge Colleges.

Officially we should start the walk at 10.00 a.m. Jean will wait a few extra minutes for late arrivals by public transport. Please send her a text if you are likely to be late.

Walk B: Milton P&R and Chesterton

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Parking: Starting from Milton Park & Ride (just off the A10) Gather at the cycle rack area for 10 o’clock start. The walk goes through Milton Country park, towards the River and then on through Chesterton.

Group size: Up to 12

Mileage: About 6 miles

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please text the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of the text! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted. The maximum number of people allowed on any walk is 30.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
