News about pubs

We have added a new ‘page’ to the Club’s website relating to pubs. Hardly a week goes by without the closure of yet another pub, or a change in circumstances, such as lunch time opening hours or provision of food. This makes it very difficult to plan walks – and even more difficult when a pub closes or stops serving food at short notice. We know that for many Wednesday leaders the issue of sorting out a pub can be more hassle than arranging the actual walk!

The ‘Pubs’ page lists the location (parish) and name of each pub affected. It tells you if the pub is open or closed, together with other useful information – such as ‘up for sale’, or ‘no longer serving food at lunch time’. The final column tells you when the entry was made; the information may need updating.

For the moment the Club’s President is editing the information so if you have any news about pubs to include or details to amend please email: However, we hope to extend the number of Club officers able to edit the information soon.
