Gillian’s walk will take off from Long Melford, circle around Stansted, touchdown for re-fuelling at Glemsford, then taxi along the Glem Valley home.

Park on the green at Long Melford. At the north end of the village, access to the green is right off Church Walk which runs north from the Black Lion pub (good for cream tea afterwards!) towards the church. Toilets on the green.

The walk is 7.5 miles in the morning, and 4 in the afternoon. The morning is quite shady for much of the way, the afternoon has some overgrown nettle patches. Lunch at The Cherry Tree pub in Glemsford, somewhere we have used before, with a basic menu, sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes and things with chips. Picnics on the village green, please.
