Note start time 10.15am!

Norman will lead a walk from Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB Reserve main car park, Explorer 225, Grid ref 342699. Approx 10.7 miles, 5.7 miles am, 5 miles pm. A walk along the Ouse before going over the fens to Swavesey, Over, Willingham and Rampton, returning to Fen Drayton on the Guided Bus,  or using it to return to Cambridge etc.

Reach the start on the Guided Bus getting off at Fen Drayton Lakes Bus stop and walking 300yds north to the main RSPB car park (cross the Guided Busway from Cambridge direction).  Please note start time will be 10.15am so that bus pass users can travel on the 0930 bus from Drummer Street. Please also note that the Fen Drayton Lakes is a request stop so push the button soon after leaving Swavesey! By car take A14 north to Swavesey turn, drive towards Swavesey and after approx 1 mile look for left turn with brown RSPB Reserve sign. In approx  0.8 miles turn right along a road marked with RSPB sign then left after a further 500yds along a concrete road (signed RSPB). Please drive slowly along this road and beware of potholes and speed bumps!! At T-junction turn right and follow signs to main car park approx 300 yds beyond the Guided Busway on the left.  A donation of £1/car for parking for non RSPB members would be appreciated!

Please remember your bus pass if you have one and bring binoculars too! When we return around 1545 there will be an excellent opportunity to see the Starling roost when there might be several thousands of Starlings returning. A Sparrowhawk will often pay a visit to liven things up further. You really should stay for this if you haven’t seen it before!
