Wednesday C Shepreth
October 25 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Dunsbridge Turnpike – River Shep – Fowlmere RSPB.
We start from The Green Man, Dunsbridge Turnpike.
A group reservation has been made at the pub which will open around 10.00 for pre-ordering lunch. We start at 10.30 and walk approx. 3½ miles.
Directions: From Cambridge take the A10 towards Royston. After the Foxton level crossing take the 4th turning on the left into Cambridge Road then soon left again into Dunsbridge Turnpike (no through road). The Green Man is on your left and there is a large car park. If you are not staying to lunch, please park in the layby along the lane.
Walk From the pub, we cross the minor road and take a footpath for 1 mile to Fowlmere Nature Reserve, following a grassy path and then a path along the River Shep. At the minor road, we turn left onto Fowlmere Road / Mill Road then right at the sign for RSPB and at the metal gate we turn right into the reserve. There is an area with benches and an ‘eco loo’ near the reception hut. We follow good tracks round the reserve at a gentle pace, past various hides, back to the reception hut and seats then retrace the path to the gate. We turn left at the minor road, left along Mill Road and right at the footpath to retrace paths along the Shep to the Green Man.
Please let the leader know if you are coming and if you wish to stay for lunch.
