Start at The Chequers pub where we will pre-order from the menu. Those staying/coming for lunch, please let me know by Tuesday 18 July as a table will be reserved.

Directions: From Cambridge take the A603 Barton Road as far as a sign for Orwell and turn left into Fisher’s Lane. Go past the church and take a right turn into Town Green Road. The Chequers pub is on the right, opposite the shop. When you drive into the small car park, stay on the right hand side of the dividing wall. If you are not staying for lunch or if the car park is full, please park along the left hand side of Town Green Road, past the shop layby.

Walk: From the front of the pub, turn right and walk along the pavement and then the track known as Leaden Hill. Pass a metal barrier and continue to a large green tank and signpost. Turn left and walk along wide grassy path to a hedge on the left. Go round to the far side of the hedge and turn left. At another hedge, follow the path round to the left side of the hedge and continue on the path to cross over a footbridge for a break. (Approx 50 mins). [Those who wish for a shorter walk, can turn left here and walk back to Orwell, approx.total 2 miles]
After the footbridge turn right for a short distance then left and then right, following yellow arrows, along a path to Malton Road, round a metal barrier. Turn left and walk along to the Millennium Globe – a Meridian Marker unveiled by Sir Martin Rees 31.12.2000. Short break here. Walk up to the T-junction at the High Street and turn left, staying on the pavement on the left. Go past the church, then turn left into Town Green Road and walk down to the pub on the right.
