WICKEN – UPWARE CIRCULAR 1st August 2018 @ 1015am start

Meet at Wicken Fen National Trust car park, by the toilets. Parking free for national trust members, but £3 for non-national trust members (or else park responsibly in the village).

Directions to the car park – Take the A10 towards Ely, then the right exit at Stretham roundabout A1123 towards Newmarket. After 4.5 miles just past the entrance to Wicken village, turn right into Lode lane and the National Trust car park is 200m on the left.

Walk distance, 5 miles in the morning, 2.5 miles after lunch.

Lunch will be at the “5 miles from anywhere, no hurry Inn”, by the river Cam at Upware. This is a large marina type pub with plenty of food choice. Your own food may be eaten outside, but please buy a drink.

If the weather remains hot and sunny, then the morning walk can be shortened.
NB The walk does not go into Wicken Fen National Trust property.
