The library car park is the meeting point for this walk. From Soham High Street turn into Red Lion Square (turn left if coming from Newmarket/Fordham) and onto Clay Street. Proceed along Clay Street to the double mini roundabout. Take first exit on first roundabout onto second mini roundabout and take first exit onto Ennion Close, park in the library car park on Ennion Close.
Walk is approx 6.5 miles, no hills or stiles, 4 miles before lunch.
The walk is mainly on farm tracks but includes a little road side walking but is quite safe. The walk goes through open country side to Wicken, through Wicken village, loops around Wicken Fen (so walkers who are National Trust members may wish to take their membership cards), back into Wicken village and the footpath back to Soham. I have checked with the National Trust and the proposed route does not go onto their property so membership is not necessary for this walk however I was asked that if any National Trust members do this walk that we take our membership cards into the members centre and scan them, this provides extra funding for the upkeep of the fen.

Lunch can be taken at The Maids Head public house, Wicken, those wishing to eat a packed lunch can sit on the green, by the village pond close to the pub. A menu will be passed around before the start of the walk for pre order.

If the weather remains hot there is little cover of share from the sun on the route so Sun block should be worn.
