Wednesday B Morning Walks: Horningsea or Barrington

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. There are two walks available each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). We hope the number of walkers will be 12 or less and at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

Walk A: Horningsea and Bottisham lock

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Car parking: Meet at the layby on the B1047 (to the north of Horningsea) this is the road that runs from Waterbeach to Fen Ditton. TL 499631. The walk is to to Bottisham Lock and back via Waterbeach. We will cross a combination of firm surfaces and a grassy track.

Walk B: Barrington

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Car parking: Car park opposite All Saints Church, Haslingfield Road, Barrington. The car park is by a children’s playground. We will walk to Harston and Haslingfield; the walk includes road walking up the hill from Haslingfield, hence smaller group.

Group size: Up to 8

Mileage: About 6.5

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by the Ramblers (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please text the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of the text! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
