Note modified meet location, just South of Six Mile Bottom: –

Traveling South-West down the A1304 (old A11), go through Six Mile Bottom, noting that you will cross the railway as you do so. Half a mile later, as you enter the dual carriageway section, take the left turn, marked ‘Weston Colville’ and ‘West Wratting’. Park immediately on the LH side of this 300 yard stretch of straight road ( TL57295 561187 – nearest post code CB8 0UH )

The walk will leave in a South-Easterly direction and continue on firm ground for about 4 miles before meeting the minor road that passes the Woodland Cemetery near the Brinkley Road cross-roads. If we are lucky enough to have what the BBC define as ‘good visibility’, there will be fine views across to the West, and we will take our 10 minute drink stop here. Having crossed the Brinkley Road, we will continue on the minor road to the edge of Westley Waterless, turning left to lose all the height gained during the first half of the walk. Again, with luck, there should be some good views to the West, right the way to Wyton, some 20 miles distant. Immediately after crossing the railway at Westley Bottom, the final off-road section will take us pretty much alongside the railway to Six Mile Bottom and onto the final section back to the starting point. This walk is the reverse direction version of the ‘Six Mile Bottom’ walk that we did about a year ago.
