Wednesday B Morning walk – Stretham – 6 miles

From the A10 roundabout at Stretham take the 1123 Newmarket Road as if going to Wicken.  See the Recreation ground on right and turn right into Short Road, (sat nav. CB63LS) park up along here where there is space and we’ll gather about half way down this stretch of road, it continues round to right if you need more parking space.

This is a circular route around fields, walking a way along the Great Ouse River, passing Stretham Old Steam Drainage Engine. We leave the river bank to go to little Thetford where we stop for our break of 10 minutes before making our way back to Stretham.

The route can be muddy in places after rain and there are some stiles along way.

There are other things of interest nearby. Red Lion Pub in Stretham claims to serve lunches on its website. Wicken Fen is just up the road. Nearby Wilburton has good garden centre that serves food and a small pottery shop that is often open to the public signed off the Twenty Pence road just before garden centre.

Wednesday B Morning walks are moderate speed – 3 m.p.h. on good terrain.
There will be a 10 minute drinks stop part way.
As no lunch is involved it is not necessary to phone leader – just turn up.
