Wednesday B Morning walk – St Ives and Houghton Mill
May 1 @ 10:15 am - 12:30 pm
Wednesday B Morning walk – St Ives and Houghton Mill – 5.5 miles
Note slightly later start time of 10.15am
(this will allow people wanting to use the guided bus service to do so)
We are following a National trust walk which is mainly on hard paths. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/houghton-mill/trails/st-ives-and-the-hemingfords-walk
We are meeting and setting off from the Statue of Oliver Cromwell, on Market Hill, outside St Ives Free Church http://www.stivesfreechurch.org/.
Several walkers (including myself) will be arriving via the Guided Bus. You will need to keep on the bus through the park and ride and get off at the town centre stop at the bottom of Market Hill. There are several busses leaving Cambridge (Drummer street) and travelling via the Science Park or Orchard Park between 9.30 and 9.45. all of which arrive in St Ives between 9.50 and 10.10 am. Check time here http://www.thebusway.info/routes-times.shtml
Those coming by car should remember that there are unavoidable road-works on the A14. The best place to park is at Globe Place car park St Ives (PE27 5PP= TL312715). On entering St Ives follow signs to “One Leisure St Ives”. If travelling via A14, leave on B1040 London Road towards St Ives. Go straight over the 1st Mini roundabout and left at the second. Turn Left into Cromwell Place, then left onto Oliver Road. At the end turn right than immediately left onto East Street. Now follow the road to Globe Place. See map
You will find Toilets at both the car park and bus stop. The toilets at Houghton Mill may also be open (if the coffee shop is). That is where we have coffee.
