Wednesday B Morning walk – Cambridge West side story – 6 miles

This is a linear semi-urban walk beginning at Maddingly P&R CB3 0EX and ending at the new ‘ROYAL PAPWORTH’ hospital. We will return to Maddingly via the U Bus. The U Bus takes 30-35 minutes and stops at Cambridge Station, the Botanical Gardens and Silver street on its way to Eddington. So, you might like to pop off on the way for lunch etc. While there is ample parking at the P&R, some may wish to use public transport to get to there, from the town centre or somewhere on the U-Bus route. From Maddingly P&R we will cross the West Cambridge site and join the Coton path towards Grange Road. We then walk through Newnham and across Grantchester Meadow, where we will break for coffee etc, before going on to Trumpington via Waitrose. Beyond Trumpington Road we follow the path to Addenbrooks to board the bus outside the Royal Papworth. As this is a semi-urban walk, we will be on paths all the way with few opportunities for comfort stops.  However, there are toilets at the beginning and at Waitrose, where we will make an extra short stop.

Don’t forget to bring your bus pass if you have one. One-way journey on the U-Bus = £2.50.

Wednesday B Morning walks are moderate speed – 3 m.p.h. on good terrain.
There will be a 10 minute drinks stop part way.
As no lunch is involved it is not necessary to phone leader – just turn up.
