Bottisham and the Wilbrahams – 6 miles

This is a circular walk, starting from the most easterly end of Bottisham. From the A14 Quy roundabout, take the Bottisham bypass (sign-posted ‘Newmarket’). Travel 3.5 km, and turn left, having ignored the first left turn to Bottisham at 2.5 km. Almost immediately (100m), turn right – signed ‘Hilton Park Care Centre’ and park along this short stub section of road. If there is no space left, return to the High Street and park there, but please spread out, to minimise disruption.

The walk starts by travelling east along the Bottisham bypass a short distance to the old Heath Road, which crosses the A14. A long open section, all at modest incline, leads almost to the A11, but a right turn instead turns us towards the crest of the hill on the Wilbraham Road, which will be crossed and where, shortly afterward, a 10 minute refreshment break will be taken. A pleasant downhill walk into and through Great Wilbraham follows and leads onto Little Wilbraham, where we revert to off-roadpath walking across to the minor Wilbraham-to-Bottisham Road. A short section of this, including the traversing of the A14 again, brings us back to our starting point.
