7 mile circular walk starting at Hixworth, near Baldock in Hertfordshire. Approx 4.5 miles in morning and 2.5 miles after lunch. Walking through Caldecote and Newnham to Ashwell where we will have lunch at the Rose and Crown Public House where sandwiches, all £5.95, Soup of the day, £4.95 and a full menu will be available. Food will be pre-ordered on the day. Those not wishing to eat at the pub are welcome to use the benches in the beer garden at the rear but please purchase a drink especially if you use the facilities. The walk is mainly on footpaths, cultivated fields and farm tracks but has some road walking on very quiet country lanes and through Ashwell village. There are no stiles but the walk is hilly in one section.

Meet at the car park at the rear of the Village Hall, Francis Road Hinxworth SG7 5HL.

From Cambridge take A10 to A505 junction at Royston. Take third exit (A505) towards Baldock. Take second exits over next two roundabouts staying on A505. Once on the dual carriage way take the right exit turn to Ashwell and onto Station Road, follow this this road through Odsey past the railway station and Jester pub. Turn left off of Station road signposted Ashwell, follow this road for a couple of miles, as you enter the village take third left junction onto Lucas Lane and drive through Ashwell village, you will pass Ashwell village hall on your right after which the road bends around to the right, approx. a quarter mile after this bend take right fork signposted Hinxworth. Keep on this road until you enter Hinxworth village, shortly after the Three Horseshoe pub (on the left) turn left onto Francis Road, this is a residential road leading to Village Hall. Turn right at T junction, Village Hall is at bottom of road on left, car park is accessed by road at right of Hall.
