Wednesday B – Great Chrishill

Great Chishill circular walk approx. 8.5 miles. passes through villages and hamlets of Little Chishill, Killem’s Green, Langley Upper Green, Duddenhoe End and Chrishall. Slightly early start of 10am to allow for larger part of walk to be completed before lunch.
Lunch at The Red Cow in Chrishall, (a panini with fries and a side salad is £8, other options on the menu).Menu available,orders taken on the day.
Picnic lunch can be eaten on recreation ground across road from pub, you are welcome to use the facilities of the pub but please purchase a drink from the bar.
The walk covers footpaths, bridleways and minor roads) but does include some inclines (that gives some lovely panoramic views) and 2 stiles. During our reccie we saw two herds of Fallow deer similar to those seen on the Barley walk.
Directions to Great Chishill. From Royston (and A10 from Cambridge). At roundabout of A10 and A505 take first exit towards South Cambs, over hill and turn right onto B1368 just before garage and Flintstones restaurant, take first left onto New Road and follow this road into Great Chishill, at the T junction turn right onto Heydon Road. Park on road nearer to Church by public phone box.
Directions from Sawston. Take A505 through Duxford. Keep on A505 and take left turn onto B1368 just after garage, take first left onto New Road and follow this road into Great Chishill, at the T junction turn right onto Heydon Road. Park on road nearer to Church by public phone box. Please, where possible car share to reduce vehicle numbers.
