Wednesday B – Great Abington
December 19 @ 10:15 am - 2:30 pm
Meeting point: Linton Road, Great Abington (534487 and 52o06’57” 14’19”). Travel out of Cambridge on the A1307 towards Haverhill, cross the A11 at the Four Went Ways roundabout, about a mile after the roundabout pass Acorn Garage on the right, turn right into Great Abington just beyond the garage, following the road round, passing the pub and turn left immediately after passing the Post Office cum shop (and park along the roadside). The shop postcode is said to be CB21 6AB.
Buses no 13 and 13A can be taken from the City Centre and Addenbrookes (but not the railway station!) one of them arrives at Great Abington at 10.00am – get off the bus a few yards beyond the Post Office. The same bus also goes to and from Linton so the walk could be morning only or afternoon only.
Lunch break at the Crown Inn in Linton (menu may be seen on the internet). We have been given permission to eat our own sandwiches on the patio at the back. Dogs must be kept on the patio (not go into the Crown Inn). There might be an opportunity to buy jam at a stall in Hildersham, so have coins available. The morning section of the walk is longer, with more ascent and descent, than the afternoon.
