Wednesday B All-day walk – Great Abington and Linton

March 23, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Start time: 10.00

Walk length: 7.5 miles

Walk details: From Great Abington to Linton and back via Hildersham on footpaths and quiet roads with one gentle ascent and 2 robust and well maintained stiles. Mostly good underfoot but there might be a few muddy patches. 5 miles in the morning and 2.5 in the afternoon.

Meeting place and parking: Meet for a 10:00 am departure (note earlier start time) outside the Three Tuns pub in Great Abington (CB21 6AB). Parking is available on the High Street close to the pub (or on Linton Road, junction off High Street by the shop/Post Office)

Group size: No limit on number of walkers

Lunch arrangements: At the Dog and Duck in Linton – unfortunately our usual pub was full. This one is slightly more expensive than we usually choose but they seem very helpful (e.g. soup £6, sandwiches £10, chips £4).    They do not want a pre-order but do need to know how many of us there will be so please could you let me know by Monday evening if you would like lunch.  Dogs are welcome.

There are benches for picnickers in The Meadow close by and a limited amount of cover, also an excellent cake shop if you would like to supplement your picnic.

Leader: Sarah

Booking: No need to book but please let me know if you would like lunch at the pub.  Please contact Sarah directly no later than Monday evening (21 March) by email.  sd73203@gmail.com

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by Ramblers UK (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please email or phone the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of any message! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households. In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.

More details related to taking part in and leading Club walks in a Covid-19 environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’. Please have another look at these before you come on the walk.
