Walk length: 7.5-8 miles
Walk details: Morning roughly 5 miles and afternoon 3 miles. There is one stile and two fallen trees. There is some walking along pavements but most of the walk is in the countryside, near the river. The nettles are not yet very high but it might be advisable to wear trousers rather than shorts.
Directions from Cambridge to Mildenhall:
A14 east, then A11 until roundabout at Barton Mills, signposted Mildenhall – first exit onto A1101 towards Mildenhall. Continue on until War Memorial – statue of soldier – and take immediate left onto King Street and very soon, left again onto Recreation Way. Tourist information and bus station on the corner as you turn into Recreation Way.
Turn immediately right into Jubilee Way between Costa Coffee on the right and Sainsbury’s on the left. Drive behind Sainsbury’s and park in free, long-stay Jubilee Hall car park –There is plenty of parking although signs say the car park is prone to flooding!
