Wednesday B all-day walk – Whaddon Circular via Wimpole Hall Estate

July 12 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm

Start time: 10.15

Walk length: Approximately 8.5 miles

Walk details: 5 miles before lunch at Wimpole Hall, National Trust, restaurant. Good paths, generally level, no stiles. A little road walking through the villages of Whaddon and Orwell. We have to cross the busy A603 just beyond Orwell so care is needed.

Meeting place and parking: Car Park at Whaddon Village Hall & Recreation Ground, 125 Church St, Whaddon, SG8 5RY

Directions from Cambridge: Take A603 to roundabout with A1198, turn left onto the A1198. Continue south for about 2 miles to the next left turn, Whaddon Gap, signposted Whaddon. The Village Hall and Recreation Ground is on the right after a sharp left-hand bend but before a sharp right-hand bend which goes round to the church.

Lunch arrangements: The restaurant is the usual National Trust style café –The Old Rectory Restaurant. No pre-ordering is needed, we just turn up, queue and order from the food & drink counter. Sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, soup, baked potatoes etc. There are seats outside for people with dogs.

There is also a take away cafe, the Stable Café, near the gift shop – hot & cold drinks, cakes.

For picnickers – plenty of grass and some picnic tables near the restaurant.

Leaders: Christine and Nigel
