Wednesday B All-Day walk – Stetchworth
June 30 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm
Meeting point: Church Lane Stetchworth (CB8 9TN and 641589 and 52o12’14” 24’03”). Various routes there are possible but from the big roundabout (with the horse statue) on the Cambridge side of Newmarket (where the A1303 and A1304 meet) take the minor road to Stetchworth, cross the railway line on the narrow bridge, ‘ahead’ with care over the B1061, proceed forward maybe a mile until the virtually hidden village sign is on the left with the entirely hidden war memorial behind it, turn left down the lane at this village sign. (Latecomers could meet the main party by going on foot from Church Lane to and along Stetchworth Ley and waiting at a footpath sign just beyond Ley Farm (651572 and 52o11’22” 24’55”)). The length of the walk is 6.5 miles but it would be possible to return, unaccompanied, to the start place over shorter distances. There are a few places where people wearing shorts might wish to protect their legs from vegetation. Bring picnic lunch and beverages.
For ‘Track and Trace’ purposes everyone must provide – at walk commencement – a paper with their name and contact details (which will be retained for 21 days); this is in line with requirements for group walks. No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you have a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles needed (no equipment or refreshments may be shared between ‘households’). In line with government guidelines members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk. More details relating to taking part in and leading Club walks in a Covid-19 environment are posted on the Cambridge Rambling Club website under ‘Members’. Places on the walk – maximum of twelve – must be booked by telephone (not text) to 01223 840615 (Josephine) not later than 4pm on Tuesday 29 June.
