Wednesday B All-day walk – Hinxworth and Ashwell circular

Start time: 10.30 (Note – later starting time)
Walk length: 7.4 miles (4.2 miles before lunch and 3.2 miles after)
Walk details: This is a scenic walk in the countryside, with manageable undulations and no stiles. There is some road walking, particularly along the main streets in pretty Ashwell.
Parking and meeting place: Hinxworth and Edworth Village Hall car park, Francis Road, Hinxworth, Baldock, Hertfordshire. SG7 5HL £1 will be collected per person to go towards the village hall funds.
Directions from Cambridge: Either from the A603 initially then B1042, or go along A10 to Royston and then follow the A505 towards Baldock.
Lunch arrangements: At the Rose and Crown pub in Ashwell, where dogs are welcome. There is seating both indoors and outside in the garden. Please see the attached menu.
For those wishing to bring a picnic, we suggest you might like to stop at the nearby St Mary’s Church which has a number of benches (some in the shade) and also has benches in the church foyer if it happens to be raining. To reach the church, continue along the High Street from the Rose and Crown, turn first left into Alms Lane, cross Swan Street into MIll Lane and the entrance to the church is just along on your right. The attached map of Ashwell gives more detail.
After lunch, the group will be walking along Swan Street and can meet those who brought a picnic on the corner of Mill Lane.
