Start of walk:  We start the walk along the road near the village hall (3 Mill Road) in Helions Bumpstead; post code CB9 7AH at 10.30am.  We can’t park in the village hall car park because of village events.

Location:  From Cambridge, follow the A1307 to Haverhill. At the first roundabout (with the leaning metal structure), go round the roundabout and take the bypass. [Do not go left on this roundabout.] Go straight over the next two roundabouts. At the third roundabout, turn right signposted Helions Bumpstead. Follow this road which becomes Mill Road, and the village hall is on your left. Park on the road close to the village hall. If you go round the bend and pass the church, you have gone too far.

General information:  The walk is 6.5 miles approx.  The walk takes us through lanes, fields and woods to Steeple Bumpstead where we will have a picnic lunch on the green.  From there we walk over field paths back to Helions Bumpstead.

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by Ramblers UK (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please email, text or phone the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of any message!  Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill.  Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
