Wednesday B All-Day walk – Hauxton and Great Shelford

Start  time: 10.15

Walk length: 6.5 to 7 miles

Walk details: Approximately 4.5 miles before lunch with 2 miles in the afternoon. The walk is mostly on permissive tracks and paths. A little walking on pavements. Level walking, with a couple of sticky patches.

Meeting place and parking:  Start at Hauxton Church – CB22 5HS. Church Road in Hauxton is a left turn off the A10, south of Cambridge. People should park on the road on the same side as the church.

Group size: No limit on number of walkers

Lunch arrangements: Either at the Square and Compasses Pub, Great Shelford, or at the cafe (Cara Coffee) run by volunteers of the Free Church , which is further along the High Street on the opposite side of the road.

The pub menu is attached below.  (For those with dogs, they are not allowed inside the pub but can be seated with their owners in an outside area.)
The cafe is not bookable but they have lots of covered and open outside seating as well as inside. They serve coffee, tea, cakes, scones, soup , sandwiches, jacket potatoes and sausage rolls at reasonable prices. 
There are two possibilities for those bringing their own picnic but neither have formal ‘facilities’.

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by Ramblers UK (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please email or phone the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of any message! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill.  Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.
