Wednesday B All-Day walk – Eversdens to Wimpole circular

August 25, 2021 @ 10:15 am - 2:30 pm

Walk length: 7.5 miles

Meeting point: Footpath to Great Eversden half way down north side of the High Street, Little Eversden

Car parking: Park in High Street, Little Eversden

Group size: Maximum 12

Walk location: Route of walk passes Great Eversden church and up onto Mare Way ridge  track, then to right (west) joining Harcamlow way, and thence to boundary path circling and into Wimpole Estate.

As parts of the Wimpole Estate belt path through trees are presently closed the walk will be a little more exposed than planned and about half a mile longer – several gates, no stiles. Toilets are open at the Stable Block.

Return via old entrance avenue and walk up from Home Farm past Cobbs Wood to rejoin Mare Way eastwards and then directly down to Little Eversden opposite High Street entrance.

Lunch arrangements: Take away food and drinks are available at the Cafeteria, but this is likely to be busy. Preferred option may well be to bring a picnic lunch to eat at shaded picnic area in front of Stables – tables may be available or grass seating.

Leaders: Mark and Alyson

To book: Anyone wishing to join this walk should contact Mark at ams3@cam.ac.uk before end of Sunday August 22nd.

Please note these additional requirements:

In line with the requirements for group walks of more than six people, as approved by Ramblers UK (the national body for walking), everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details.

Please email the leader if you plan to come. Please remember to give your name as part of any message! Your details will be held for 21 days for Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ purposes, then deleted.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill.  Please make sure that you bring with you a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  In line with government guidance, members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk.

More details related to taking part in and leading Club walks in a Covid-19 environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’.  Please have another look at these before you come on the walk.
