Wednesday B All-day walk – Colleges and the River Cam

Start time: 10.15
Walk length: Approx. 5.5 miles
Walk details: This will be a morning only walk, tarmac paths by the river or pavements in the city so no mud. Around 2.5 to 3 hours maximum.
Starting at the railway station we head towards Coe Fen then into the city centre …. The Backs and the colleges … back into the city centre to Magdelene Bridge … along the
River Cam to Midsummer Common… return to the railway station via Parkers Piece.
Meeting place: By the sculpture (Ariadne Wrapped by Gavin Turk) in front of Cambridge Central Railway station, Station Square, Cambridge.
Directions and parking: Parking is expensive in central Cambridge but there are Park and Ride buses which go to the railway station or it is a 20-minute walk from the bus station on Emmanuel Street. Queen Anne Terrace car park is £7.80 for 4 hours peak rate, 15 minutes’ walk to the Railway Station
The Cambridge Leisure Car park, Clifton Way which is only 5 minutes from the railway station is less expensive, £6 for 4 hours, £13 for 5

Lunch arrangements: At the end of the walk, there are plenty of cafes and pubs to choose for lunch in Station Square as well as benches for picnickers.
