Wednesday B All-day walk – Anglesey Abbey, Lode and Swaffham Bulbeck

January 25, 2023 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm

Start time: 10.15

Walk length: 7.5 miles

Walk details: This is a 7.5 miles circular walk, with approximately 5.2 miles in the morning and 2.3 after lunch.  No stiles.  When the walk was recce’d on 6 January it was not especially muddy and there are quite a lot of paths with a hard surface underfoot. The walk is essentially flat.  The terrain is fairly exposed so it could be quite windy in places depending on the weather that day.

Meeting point and parking:  Car park at Anglesey Abbey, Quy Road, Lode, Cambridge  CB25 9EJ. Please use the overflow car park at the far end as we will be walking from the car park towards Lode Mill.

Directions from Cambridge:  Head along the B1102 from the A14 towards Lode. Anglesey Abbey is on the left just before the turning to Lode.

Lunch arrangements: Booked at the Black Horse Inn, Swaffham Bulbeck (35 High Street, CB25 0HP). We will aim to arrive between 12.30 and 13.00. If you want to eat at the Black Horse, please select from the menu below and let Geoff know what you have chosen when you book to join the walk. Dogs are allowed inside.

For those wishing to bring their own picnic, there is seating on the green immediately opposite the pub.

Leaders: Geoff and Jackie
